What is an end of life doula? An end of life doula helps people navigate dying.
I’m a professional, trained to help the terminally ill person’s physical and emotional needs during the dying process. I get involved with someone who is dying and their loved ones soon after a diagnosis of a terminal illness, for support and guidance.
I bring comfort to those nearing the end of their life while working alongside trained medical personnel to bring calm, caring support to the dying and their loved ones. I offer a long list of services that I can assist with such as:
End of life planning for patient and family.
Complete legal paperwork (I am a licensed Notary as well).
Assist with advanced directives.
Aid in putting affairs in order.
Creating a legacy project.
Determining who should be there during active death.
Making the space calm and comfortable during death.
Respite care for families and caregivers.
Writing an obituary.
Vigil support.
Post death care and guidance.

Purpose through pain
Grief is the hardest journey.
My journey down this path started when my mother, Dorothy, passed away in an emergency room and I was not able to be there with her. I wanted to honor her in a way that brings love and compassion to others as part of her legacy.
When I started on this journey I would see this quote everywhere “In the pain, you find purpose”.
I thought about it and thought how appropriate that quote is for me since it was the pain of my mom’s passing that led me to this purpose.
It makes my heart happy to know that my mom would be so pleased and proud of me knowing that many people are receiving end of life support services and love all because of the love between a mother and her daughter.
Doula Certification
I received my training and certification (view here) through an amazingly wonderful and extensive program called the Quality of Life Care founded by Deanna Cochran. I have a medical background and worked as a medical office manager for many years which I believe has helped prepare me for this journey in some ways.
I wanted to invest in myself and a program that would allow me the opportunity to be of service and a blessing to others and to help ease their pain through the gift of grace during their time of transition.
